Case Study: From 5 Hours/Week to Leading Comms for a Record-Breaking Biotech IPO

Hi!

When Jessica Freifeld signed on to support thought leadership and LinkedIn for Parabilis' CEO, she had no idea that she’d eventually be leading the communications effort for the largest IPO for a venture-backed biotech company.

But she soon found herself working alongside not only the CEO, but also the finance team, banks, legal counsel, and agency partners to sharpen a differentiated investor narrative for the company.

On Day 2 of our upcoming Virtual Biopharma Comms Forum, Jessica will join us to share the story of her experience leading Parabilis' IPO comms, and what it taught her about how fractional communicators can earn trust, integrate deeply with a client, and own outcomes alongside an internal team.

Case Study: How I Led Comms for a Record-Breaking Biotech IPO as a Fractional Leader

Day 2: Wed, Oct 7, 2026 @ 3 p.m. ET | Location: Zoom

Jessica brings nearly two decades of healthcare communications experience to the conversation, spanning biotech, health tech, global public health, AI, and digital health. Before founding JLF Strategy & Communications, she held comms leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine and spent nearly a decade at Global Health Strategies.

During this case study, she’ll dig into questions that should resonate with a lot of us, especially given how many biopharma communicators are working as consultants and fractional members of communications teams these days. (Not to mention how many in-house team members rely on outside consultants for support!)

These include:

  • How do you translate complex science into an investor story that makes the differentiation, opportunity, and unmet need clear?
  • How early should communications be embedded in a high-stakes financing process?
  • What does it take to move from a narrowly defined assignment to true strategic leadership?
  • What can lean biophamra teams learn from this model about using fractional communicators as functional leaders rather than simply extra hands?

Jessica will join us on Day 2 of the forum – but we hope you’ll join us for the whole agenda!

Hi! For us at T2B and probably for most of you, too, September is not only the return from summertime, but also the turn around the corner that takes us through the end of the year and into JPM. This year feels especially jam-packed, so before anything else, I want to thank everyone who joined us at our T2Bmeets last week along the Eastern Seaboard, in D.C., Philly, and Boston for making the time — time away from work, client deadlines, family, travel, and everything else competing for it. A...

Hi! Patients and patient advocacy organizations show up across biopharma communications in all kinds of ways: sharing lived experience, reviewing materials, advising teams, participating in research, speaking at events, and helping organizations better understand the communities they serve. At our August Comm Convo, Rethinking What We Ask of Patients, we took a closer look at what makes those engagements thoughtful, useful, and sustainable. A huge thank you to Erin Murphy (Alagille Syndrome...

Hi! We communicators seek to become -- and remain -- trusted advisors to the C-suite, whether at our own organizations or at our client companies. But we don’t often hear from the executive receiving that counsel what was useful, what changed their thinking, what missed the mark, and what happened once the comms team left the room. So, for the opening session of our 2nd Annual Virtual Biopharma Comm Forum, we’re flipping the usual format to hear from a CEO. On Tuesday, October 6th, Jodie...
