T2B Monthly | July 2025

Member-created resources, forum preview, networking masterclass, and more!

The time I've been fortunate to take this month to be extra thoughtful about our 2H25 programming fooled me into thinking putting July's newsletter together would be a breeze.

But I was wrong... because we actually have a ton going on!

I can't wait to share more details with you tomorrow about our September 18th virtual Biopharma Comms Forum. This is not a repeat of what we did in person in June—new theme (The Ripple Effect), new agenda, new speakers, even an interactive workshop. More soon!

Today's email is 1,638 words, an 8-minute read.

This virtual, full-day event is built for senior communicators navigating lots of pressure and high stakes (umm, if you canNOT identify with this, please email me because I want to know who you are!).

Join us for candid conversations, sharp panel discussions, a timely case study, and a practical workshop. Michelle and I have debated, designed, and refined the agenda to explore how our work influences what happens next inside and outside our organizations.

Expect sessions on:

  • Navigating politically sensitive moments
  • Building credibility across teams and functions
  • Evolving models for resourcing comms, including the role of AI

We'll spend the day focused on how corporate affairs shapes operations, perception, and impact. And how we rise to meet that responsibility.

Watch for the launch announcement tomorrow. Registration is free for Pro and Student members, and tickets will cost $275 for Basic members. See you there.

🤝 Q3 Masterclass: Networking Redefined

Many of you know Monique Kelley from her authentic LinkedIn content—the kind that makes you pause and rethink how we show up professionally.

I've followed her work for years and have had the privilege to get to know her through our T2B community. Now she's joining us for our Q3 Professional Development Masterclass, coinciding with the upcoming release later this fall of her first book on relationship-based networking.

As communicators, we craft narratives for others every single day, but rarely apply that strategic thinking to ourselves.

Monique's approach centers on leading with the value you contribute. Her September 10th workshop will challenge how we think about professional relationship-building, whether you love networking or cringe at the thought.

T2B's quarterly masterclasses are free and exclusive for Pro members; Basic members are not permitted.

Secure your spot here.

🥷 Partnered Seminar: Fighting for Attention Amid AI-Filtered Media

Fullintel is a T2B Pro Perks partner, and we're gearing up for the third in our four-part partnered seminar series this year.

With AI systems now filtering and summarizing content before audiences see it, communicators face a new challenge in getting their stories noticed. Traditional reach metrics no longer tell the full story, and breakthrough science competes for attention in an algorithm-driven environment.

Recent research from Muck Rack shows that 73% of journalists now use AI tools in their reporting process, while separate studies indicate that 60% of Google searches generate no clicks as AI-generated summaries replace traditional web traffic.

In this 30-minute session on August 14th, we'll cover:

  • Practical approaches for creating content that breaks through AI filters
  • The growing importance of expert credibility
  • Why owned content strategies are becoming essential for maintaining control over your narrative while optimizing for both traditional SEO and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)

Free for all T2B members, you can register here.

📋 ICYMI: T2B info session recap

From T2B's head of professional development, Michelle Benz:

Since joining Ticket to Biotech in January, I've gotten the same curious (and totally fair) questions: What exactly is Ticket to Biotech? What do you actually do? How does this whole thing work? And yes, the big one: what's your business model?

We decided to pull back the curtain and answer everything in one place by hosting an info session in July. We covered our origin story, walked through our three core pillars, explained what's really included in Pro membership, and YES - we even tackled the money question head-on.

If you missed it live, the recording is available now HERE.

It's only 30 minutes and that'll give you the full picture of what T2B is all about and how we're supporting biopharma communicators in ways that actually matter.

🔖 NEW resources from IR, Culture Connect, and Media Minds Roundtables

This summer, our volunteer roundtables have been hard at work creating even more practical community resources, born from real conversations and collective expertise. These are insights distilled from practitioners who show up consistently to share what they've learned in the trenches.

Our IR Roundtable launched their first community resource: a plain-language guide to investor relations essentials. It covers who IR communicates with, best practices for credibility and engagement, plus key financial and regulatory terms you'll encounter in cross-functional work. This is designed to strengthen foundational knowledge so biopharma comms and IR pros can collaborate more strategically. View the full guide here.

The Media Minds Roundtable delivered another Biopharma Beats Bulletin, featuring Jared Whitlock of Endpoints News. Jared's focus spans genomics and multi-omics, rare disease storytelling, and China's biotech landscape. He's particularly interested in Chinese companies at "inflection points" and stories that move beyond geopolitics to showcase innovation and companies "quietly doing novel things." His approach to rare disease reporting emphasizes human impact, while his genomics coverage explores emerging spaces like spatial biology and proteomics. See Jared's profile here.

Meanwhile, our Culture Connect Roundtable tackled summer's unique collaboration challenges with "Sun's Out, Comms Out," seven practical tips for staying connected when schedules shift. From normalizing routine changes to modeling empathy and accountability, these insights help teams maintain alignment and support each other through seasonal flux. The takeaways extend beyond internal communications to anyone keeping collaboration strong and priorities clear. Take a look at the article here.

All resources available to Pro and Student members in your T2B account.

📊 Beyond the Metrics: reframing comms' ROI

The smartest communicators are ditching traditional ROI for "return on capital" thinking—factoring human effort and strategic time alongside budget spend. They're quantifying stakeholder relationships through scoring systems, using AI for crisis scenario planning, and translating outputs into business language that actually resonates with leadership.

We heard during July's Beyond the Metrics Comm Convo yesterday that making comms the function that elevates other departments' success metrics is also key. Help HR improve Glassdoor ratings, refine sales RFP responses, support growth team performance... Suddenly you have cross-functional advocates speaking for your value when budget discussions happen.

We'll publish complete takeaways next week, but in the meantime, the session recording is available HERE for Pro and Student members in the T2B content archive.

📰 Endpoints Pro Perk

When I created T2B, one of the many benefits I wanted to be able to offer members was access to resources and services provided by industry-leading organizations.

As part of our growing Pro Perks program, we announced this month that we've teamed up with Endpoints News to offer first-time subscribers with a more accessible entry point.

T2B Pro and Student members can now receive a 25% discount on their first individual subscription. The Insider subscription is $400 annually, so the code has a $100 value!

Conor Grennan's (Chief AI architect @ NY Stern School of Business) breakdown of law firms' billable hour crisis felt remarkably familiar.

His recent analysis of how AI productivity gains create revenue cliffs while firms cling to traditional pricing models mirrors exactly what we're seeing in communications.

The parallel is striking: automate the work, but then how do you price the value and develop the next generation of strategic thinkers. Grennan's emphasis on building "AI fluency" through daily practice resonates as our community grapples with the same fundamental transformation.

We'll be exploring these themes at our August Comm Convo and September 18th Virtual Biopharma Comms Forum...

I always think August is going to be a quiet month, but between coast-to-coast meetups, a brand-new masterclass, prep for September’s forum, and some memorable conversations over the past few weeks, this newsletter is packed! We have a few “firsts," too: Our first Philly meetup, our first D.C. meetup, and a first look at how September’s Ripple Effect Forum is shaping up. And of course,...

Hi! Our August Comm Convo was a wide-ranging discussion about how comms teams can effectively operate in the life science ecosystem. Replay available here. Here are our top 10 takeaways for gaining and maintaining influence no matter the type, size, or shape of your organization: 1. Accept trade-offs in structure. Both centralized and decentralized models have strengths and weaknesses—focus on adaptability and network reach, rather than defending one model. 2. Prove advisory value. Instead of...

Hi! Our recent seminar with Fullintel (a T2B Pro Perks partner) dug into a question we’re all facing right now: What happens when algorithms, not editors, determine what audiences see? Although AI may be changing the rules around best practices, it’s also giving us new ways to get our stories out there and make them stick. Here are 10 highlights from our discussion: 1. AI is everywhere in life sciences. Professionals in our field use AI at nearly 4x the rate of other industries (31% vs. 8%),...
