What Now Counts as Proof of Comms Impact?

Hi!

There's usually no shortage of data we have at our disposal as communicators. But what to focus on and signals stakeholder impact is often harder to identify.

At next week's Virtual Biopharma Comms Forum, our panel “Measuring What Matters to the Business” will bring together perspectives from inside and outside comms to examine what credible evidence of impact looks like now, and how expectations are changing.

Joining the conversation on Oct. 6th @ 11 a.m. ET:

💬 Brindha Dyer, Executive Director, Product & Transformation, JPMorgan Chase & Co., will bring the perspective of a business leader evaluating investment, change, and outcomes.

💬 Mark Hutcheon, Director, Deloitte UK and author of The Road to 2030 Report, will draw on his work with corporate affairs leaders across industries to explore how the function connects its impact to enterprise priorities.

💬 Erin Patton, Senior Director, Corporate Communications, Denali Therapeutics, will share the realities of demonstrating communications value inside a fast-moving biotech without a large measurement infrastructure.

💬 Jack O’Brien, Executive Editor, MM+M, will moderate the discussion, bringing a cross-company view of what companies are measuring, reporting, and increasingly being asked to prove.

We’ll get into:

  • What leadership is really trying to understand when asking whether communications is “working.”
  • How to connect communications activity to business and stakeholder outcomes without overstating causality.
  • What belongs on a leadership dashboard vs. what's more useful for the communications team itself.
  • How measurement expectations change depending on company stage, resources, and the scope of the function.
  • What AI now makes possible to capture, from sentiment at scale to how AI-powered search describes a company, and which new data points are useful in the real world.

The topic is “Building a Credible Biopharma Employer Brand Through Growth and Change.” Employer brand matters well beyond hiring. It’s shaped by how employees experience the company, how organizations communicate and behave through periods of growth and change, and whether the story being told externally matches the reality people experience...

Hi! Corporate affairs keeps getting broader, but there’s no single model for what belongs inside the function... or how much the function should directly own. On Day 2 of our upcoming Virtual Biopharma Comms Forum, we’re bringing together leaders working within very different company structures to compare how those boundaries are taking shape in practice. The New Boundaries of Corporate Affairs Panel discussion @ Virtual Biopharma Comms Forum | Wednesday, October 7th @ 2:10 p.m. ET Joining...

Hi! A quick reminder that our September Comm Convo is tomorrow, September 24th, at 12 p.m. ET / 9 a.m. PT / 5 p.m. BST. We called this session "Beyond the Binder in the Era of Constant Crisis" because so much of crisis readiness now comes down to judgment: knowing what deserves preparation, what requires an immediate response, and how to make good decisions when the facts are incomplete or still changing. What we'll get into tomorrow: Prioritizing what to prepare for based on the stage and...
