This Friday! How to Calculate Comms/IR Risk

Hi!

Many of the decisions we’re asked to make have no clear or obvious correct answer.

Taking a public position on an issue may reassure employees, but create political or commercial exposure. Staying silent may protect the company legally but undermine trust with patients or other stakeholders. And sometimes, the pressure to respond quickly doesn't leave much room to think through the longer-term implications.

At this Friday's Comm Convo, we'll explore how communicators can help leadership make tough calls, especially during moments when legal, policy, commercial, and employee considerations all pull in a different direction.

October Comm Convo: The Comms Risk Recalculation

Featured speakers:

💬 Chrissy Trank, Senior Director, Oncology Drug Development Communications, Bristol Myers Squibb

💬 Ethan Lovell, Senior Director of IR, formerly Avidity Biosciences

💬 Lisa Popyk, Communications Strategy Consultant, Writing Unlimited (Moderator)

We'll discuss:

  • How do we weigh reputational, legal, political, commercial, employee, investor, and patient implications when they point toward different decisions?
  • When does an issue warrant a public position, behind-the-scenes preparation, or no response at all?
  • How can we help leadership establish a clearer risk appetite before a contentious issue forces the conversation?
  • What role does consistency play in building credibility with stakeholders and trust in our counsel?

See you Friday!

Hi! We're headed back to London next month for the Jefferies Healthcare Conference and London Life Sciences Week! Even if you're not making the trip, we'd love your help spreading the word! Please share these invitations with UK-based colleagues,...

Hi! China's role in global biopharma has changed dramatically over the past few years, evolving from a lower-cost manufacturing and research hub into a major source of innovation, drug development, and licensing activity. At the same time, geopolitical tensions and shifting U.S. policies have raised questions about cross-border partnerships, investment, intellectual property, and supply chains. At our upcoming Media Minds Roundtable press panel, we'll hear from Drew Armstrong (Endpoints) and...

Hi! Patient advocacy is often most visible through awareness campaigns, community events, fundraising walks, and patient stories. But that’s of course only part of the picture, and for communicators, PA&E may be part of our own remit or something we engage with across the organization. At our next Patient Advocacy & Engagement Roundtable event, we’re turning the conversation over to the Roundtable members themselves for a candid, myth-busting discussion about what PA&E does, where it...
