July Comm Convo: Why Only Some Platforms Are Trusted When Everyone Has One

Hi!

Biopharma audiences now encounter information through a much wider mix of voices and platforms: corporate channels and traditional media, along with scientists building their own followings, independent experts, niche newsletters, podcasts, and creator-led platforms.

And audiences do not trust all of those voices equally. The 2026 Edelman Trust Barometer shows medical scientists and experts at 68% trust in the U.S., compared with 27% for healthcare CEOs and 28% for journalists.

For communicators, this changes how we think about who can speak credibly on an issue, which platforms support that credibility, and how organizations can work alongside voices they may influence without fully directing.

Our July Comm Convo will explore how comms strategies are evolving to reflect where audiences now place trust, and what that means for how we identify, activate, and work alongside the voices our organizations need.

Featured speakers:

💬 Gwen Wu, Senior Reporter, BioPharma Dive (Moderator) — bringing the newsroom perspective on how journalists assess expertise, credibility, and the voices worth listening to.

💬 Chloe Kirk, Ph.D., Science Correspondent, BiotechTV — bringing the perspective of a trained scientist who translates complex research for broader audiences and builds trust through accessible, inclusive science communication.

💬 Ben McLeod, Founder, Convey Bio and Co-Host, The Biotech Voyager — bringing the independent creator and biotech messaging strategist perspective on how scientists and executives build authority through their own platforms.

We'll be looking at how trust trends are reshaping spokesperson strategies, channel decisions, and the role of individual voices in biopharma communications. We’ll also dig into how communicators can support credible scientific and community voices while navigating brand, legal, and compliance considerations.

Looking forward to seeing you there.

Lynnea

P.S. - To help bridge our industry's trust gap, Brad Loncar, Chloe, and team are bringing creators into the heart of one of our industry’s biggest hubs for BiotechTV’s inaugural Science Summit on July 21st. T2B's Comm Convo takes place just two days after, so we’ll have an opportunity to hear some of the ideas and takeaways emerging from that gathering while they’re still fresh. The event has reached capacity, but they are specifically looking for senior biopharma communicators—whether in-house, agency, or freelance—to attend. If you’d like to request a spot, please mention Ticket to Biotech when registering.

Hi! Ever since I can remember, the de facto comms announcement strategy has centered on company statements, press releases, media outreach, executive quotes, and corporate social channels. Those still matter. But increasingly, credibility also depends on who is speaking, where they are speaking, and whether the message feels like it is coming from a real person with expertise, judgment, and something meaningful to say. That could mean a CEO on LinkedIn, a scientist explaining the work in...

Hi! Communicators often joke that we're unpaid therapists. Why? Because much of our work involves helping people navigate competing priorities, resistance to change, unclear objectives, and difficult conversations. Our job goes way, way beyond helping people communicate; we help people think through -- often serving as a guide through -- complex situations. Bringing that coaching mindset into our everyday communications work is the topic of our Q3 masterclass. The Coaching Mindset for...
