T2B Government & Public Affairs Roundtable Launches

Hi!

Even for those who don't have government affairs as part of our formal remit, we've all been urgently confronted with the convergence of policy/politics/regulation and public trust in our industry.

That's why we've launched T2B's inaugural T2B Government & Public Affairs Roundtable, our eighth(!) member-driven roundtable designed to tap into the deep, discipline-specific expertise across our community. Our roundtables bring together communicators with hands-on experience in areas from media relations, to patient advocacy, to AI and beyond, to exchange ideas, create practical resources, and develop quarterly programming that benefit the broader T2B community.

Apply for the Government & Public Affairs Roundtable.

Government & public affairs is a strategic comms imperative

Led by Bret Coons, Head of Global Issues Communications at Takeda, T2B's Government & Public Affairs Roundtable will connect communicators working across government affairs, public affairs, corporate communications, advocacy, market access, and related functions to explore how strategic engagement with policymakers, coalitions, and the public strengthens reputation, supports innovation, and drives long-term success. Understanding how these forces influence our organizations and clients, as well as how communications and government affairs can work together strategically, is becoming an essential skill for all of us.

Roundtable objectives

  • Foster peer exchange on anticipating and adapting to political dynamics, policy priorities, geopolitical developments, and evolving regulatory environments.
  • Demonstrate the strategic value of government and public affairs across organizational stages.
  • Explore the communicator's role in building trust and authentic engagement with policymakers, coalitions, and the public.
  • Create practical resources that help the broader T2B community strengthen government affairs as a strategic communications function.

What to expect

As one of five roundtable members, you'll volunteer approximately 3-5 hours per month to help develop quarterly Government & Public Affairs Roundtable events and ongoing resources for the T2B community.

Like all T2B roundtables, this is a hands-on volunteer role — not an advisory position. Members actively collaborate, contribute ideas, participate in planning meetings, and help create programming and resources for our community.

Eligibility

Applicants should have:

  • Experience in government affairs, public affairs, policy, advocacy, or related communications work within biopharma, healthcare, or life sciences.
  • A strong interest in helping communicators better understand the strategic role of government and public affairs.
  • The ability to contribute 3-5 hours per month.
  • An active T2B Pro membership.

Note: The programming and resources that T2B roundtables create are available to all T2B Pro and Student members, and we typically share key takeaways with our broader communicator community.

How to apply

Roundtable applications are now open for five member spots. The inaugural member term runs for one calendar year, with applications accepted through July 29, 2026. T2B Pro members: Log into your T2B account and click here to learn more and apply.

Hi! Ever since I can remember, the de facto comms announcement strategy has centered on company statements, press releases, media outreach, executive quotes, and corporate social channels. Those still matter. But increasingly, credibility also depends on who is speaking, where they are speaking, and whether the message feels like it is coming from a real person with expertise, judgment, and something meaningful to say. That could mean a CEO on LinkedIn, a scientist explaining the work in...

Hi! Communicators often joke that we're unpaid therapists. Why? Because much of our work involves helping people navigate competing priorities, resistance to change, unclear objectives, and difficult conversations. Our job goes way, way beyond helping people communicate; we help people think through -- often serving as a guide through -- complex situations. Bringing that coaching mindset into our everyday communications work is the topic of our Q3 masterclass. The Coaching Mindset for...
